DRAGONS SOCCER CLUB UNITED
ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH
NEW YORK RED BULLS TRAINING PROGRAMS
Red Bulls to provide professional training to players and coaches
May 12, 2010 -Westwood, NJ -Dragons Soccer Club United announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with Red Bull New York.
As part of the relationship, the Red Bulls will provide Dragons Soccer Club United with ongoing player development support; this will include player clinics, coach education workshops, camp and team training. The program provides DSC United with a unique opportunity to partner with a Major League Soccer team, and benefit from a vast network of training programs and an extensive range of youth soccer expertise. Professional Red Bulls trainers will be on hand to work with players and implement an age and ability specific curriculum.
"I think this is a significant step forward.” said Bill Bortz, Vice President of Recreation for DSC United. "The Board of Trustees has done a lot of research to find trainers that will balance strong skill development, while keeping the game fun for our recreational players. We listened to the feedback of our volunteer coaches, players and parents over the past couple of years to get a good idea of what was, and was not working with our program." said Bortz. "We are excited to deliver a program that will encourage and prepare kids to play at whatever competitive level they desire, from recreational through the top elements of our Dragons Club program." We believe Red Bull can help us achieve that goal.
“We are looking forward to our partnership and the opportunity to develop players in the local community,” said Dave Jervis, Red Bulls Director of Training Programs. “As a leader in youth soccer, it is important that we play an active role in the development of future soccer generations”.
"We interviewed numerous training companies, and decided that Red Bull would be the best fit for our Recreational Soccer Division." Says Mike Gallo, DSC United President. "DSC United is based on the philosophy that Teamwork, Leadership and Community are the foundations of developing young players into well-rounded athletes. We are confident that Red Bull will help us towards that continuing goal."
The partnership will also help connect young players to the professional game. As part of the curriculum players are actively encouraged to watch soccer games and are provided with an opportunity to attend a live professional match at Red Bull Arena, a new state of the art soccer stadium, located in Harrison, NJ.
